My first time

Vocal Media. The first time i came into contact with this platform was last year. I discovered it on google and I got extremely curious to know more about it. The first thing I came across to, was that vocal.media is a digital publishing platform that allows writers, bloggers, and content creators to publish and share their content online.

Now…I’m not a writer. I guess I’m not even close to it. I don’t have that ambition or… perhaps I do and (perhaps) what I have been lacking until now is the motivation to write. I don’t actually know.

What I know is that there are also a lot of cons.

Notably, English is not my first language. Albanian is. It’s not even my second language because Italian is.

Second, I have no writing skills at the present time. That’s my true thought.

And I can go on with a third and a forth and a fifth…reason for me to quit writing. Or better, to not even start it.

So, the real question is: what am i doing here?

• Well, writers are not the only people entitled to write. Everyone has the right to do so. Everyone has the right to use writing as a means of self – expression and communication. Everyone has the right to be heard and to be realized. In a world where everything goes by so fast and everything is so immediate, writing allows us to slow down a little bit and to pay more attention in what we do. It helps us to communicate in a better way, to describe emotions and to share experiences. It helps us to extract thoughts from our head and to give them a shape.

I read an article once that supported the idea that writing down and performing your thoughts, can serve to transform the intangibility of your emotions and experiences into something more. They serve as a way for you to make your feelings tangible and real. I truly believe that! I truly need that!

• I’m a stay at home mom and i have gathered some information that says that vocal media is a great platform for writers to earn money. Let’s admit it. This would be really good!

According to Vocal, writers earn $3.80 per 1,000 reads. If you subscribe to Vocal + (which is $49 for the first year), you may earn $6 per 1,000 reads. This means that the more engaging and shareable your content is, the more money you can potentially earn. Readers have the option to tip you if they enjoy your content, which can add an additional revenue stream. I learned that Vocal Media also runs various challenges and contests with cash prizes for the best stories in specific categories, providing more opportunities to earn. Why not, right?

In order to help me start writing, someone gave me a to do list that i may want to follow:

• The first thing is to “Find inspirations”. I believe it’s easier to write when you are inspirated and passionate about something (a topic, a story ect).

• To “Read a lot” . You need to read as much as you can. With every new book you read, your ideas get a little better.

Now, obviously i enjoy writing and i am passionate about reading books, especially phylosophy books and i hope to be able to deepen more into this topic in the future.

• To “Take classes” . It can help to improve your own skills.

• As according to one of my favourite writers, Ernest Hemmingway “WRITE DRUNK, EDIT SOBER”. This is the one i like most because i personally believe that writing has to be creative, without overthinking a lot. You can then edit and format the writing when feeling more fresh.

• And the most important one: “Practice, practice, practice “ a lot. As with anything in life, practice makes perfect.

In conclusion, I definetely feel very insecure about expressing myself in writing, but I have decided that I won’t let it stop me. For now, I believe I will try to enjoy this new experience as much as I can, knowing that I’m not a writer but that sky is the limit.
